Job description: - Reporting to the project directorate and the Head of Environment, the main purpose of the role is to Lead on all environment aspects of STRABAG work on the Sizewell C project in line with the STRABAG management system, the STRABAG Environment and Sustainability Strategy and the wider Sizewell C project requirements.Ensure that the STRABAG ISO 14001 compliant Environmental and Sustainability Management System (ESMS) is fully implemented on the project.Build a strong, efficient environmental management team which reflects STRABAGs team working culture to support the Sizewell C project as our scope develops.
- Advise and support the project directorate and management team in discharging their responsibilities towards the environment and sustainability.
- Manage STRABAGs ISO 14001 compliant ESMS for the project, and lead site activities to support the implementation of STRABAGs ISO 50001 compliant Energy Management System and development of our PAS 2080 compliant Carbon Management System and ISO 46001 compliant Water Efficiency Management System. Support the client implementation of their management systems as required. Manage the communication and risk management of project related environment requirements in line with client and business needs. Ensure that the whole project team including are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities and understand the requirements of the STRABAG ESMS, through formal briefings and site presence from yourself and the environmental management team.
- Lead the team in development of project specific management plans and approaches in line with the STRABAG UK ESMS and the preparation of risk assessments and method statements.
- Manage and undertake regular environmental assurance activity to monitor compliance with environmental legislation, STRABAG environmental procedures, and client management plans. This may initially include some environmental monitoring, sampling, and data analysis to inform the operation of environmental controls.
- Be responsible for maintenance of records to support compliance with legislation, STRABAG requirements and client requirements. Gather, compile and report upon project specific information in line with STRABAG KPIs and the ESMS, including information required to fulfil various ISO certification requirements. Review trends, develop improvement initiatives and implement as required.
Required profile: - Degree Qualified (or experience equivalent to a degree).
- Full Member of professional institution (e.g. IEMA, IES, CIWEM, CIEEM). Relevant Chartered status.
- Full driving licence and willing to travel
- CSCS Card (relevant type)
- A full nuclear sector security clearance will be required prior to appointment
- Chartered Environmentalist.
- Significant environmental and sustainability management experience in the construction industry on large infrastructure projects or equivalent, comparable industry/projects.
- Representation of industry relevant working groups. Nuclear sector (particularly nuclear new build) experience would be advantageous.
- Experience working adjacent to European protected sites (SCA, SPA, RAMSAR) and/or groundwater management knowledge would be advantageous.
